Since 1998, Consip has been called upon to develop the information systems of the Ministry of the Economy and Finance (MEF). The various projects that have been implemented may be grouped in three main categories:
- Optimization of the organization and functional processes of the Administration. These projects have dealt with the basic level (digitalization of operational management and automation of administrative procedures), the enhancement of knowledge tools on the operations of the administrative machinery, the creation verification and Ministry top-level decision-making support tools.
- Improvement of the access and circulation of information both within and beyond the Ministry.
- 3. Rationalization and coordination of the MEF’s IT expenditure and technical and security infrastructure. The projects that Consip has developed in the course of its activity have contributed to the streamlining of processes, to improving the dissemination of information and to rationalize expenditure. Their impact has been significant on the workings of the administrative machinery and has had both direct and indirect influence in the efficiency andc effectiveness of its dealings with citizens and enterprises.
