Since 2003, the Research Unit has conducted research and knowledge-sharing activities both at a national and international level. The Unit operates mainly as a platform for the aggregation of heterogeneous skills on public procurement in order to achieve the “best value for money”.
The Research Unit provides support to Consip’s mission mainly through:
- internal economic and statistical on public procurement processes
- theoretical and empirical research on the economics of public procurement and e-procurement
- training sessions to procurement specialists
- partnerships with educational institutions (e.g., University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, University of Siena, Italian Higher School of Governement – SSPA, ITC-ILO)
- coordination of the international network “European Public Procurement Learning Lab”
- participation in national and international conferences/workshops
